3 Waters You Should Be Drinking (Plus Bonus)

How do you prefer your drinking water? Do you buy water or use a filter attached to your kitchen faucet? What type of water do you shop for at the store? Do you get your water delivered to you?

More than 70% of the human body is made up of water. This is to help our blood flow without interruptions. Water helps our organs perform well and to keep them hydrated. Think of oil in a car and how it keeps the engine and other parts lubricated and working smooth. This is what water does to the body. If you’re unsure of how water works, it is important that you read this post thoroughly and complete your own research. The information I will provide is for educational purposes only. There are three types of waters that you should be consuming daily. These three waters are alkaline, distilled and natural spring water.

pH Scale of Water

The pH balance on a scale generally range from 1 to 14 with 7 being neutral. Neutral simply means balanced. Anything below neutral is acidic and above neutral is alkaline. Acidic can be both bad and good. Soda is the negative acid while a lemon is positive acid. What creates these environments is how the body reacts to them once they are consumed. With the two examples, soda burns in the body after consumption which makes it a negative acid. Lemons on the other hand cleans and nourishes the body after consuming it. This is what makes it a positive acid. So choosing the right acidic foods we intake is the key to a positive non-acidic body.

3 Water Types & Their pH Balance

Distilled Water

Distilled water is unique. Most of us know what it is so I won’t bore you. What I will do is tell you how it affects the body. Distilled water puts hydration into the body where it is needed most. It will not hydrate you. Distilled water has an acidic pH of roughly 5.8 according to sciencing.com. This can be negative on the body if this is the only water being consumed. It can cause dehydration and a list of other problems. This water must be combined with another source of water to be effective and provide what the body needs. So if your body is dehydrated and there is sever back pain and/or possible bladder infection, drinking distilled water to replenish the organs (kidneys) and drinking alkaline water for a boost from the acidic state to neutral is a great way to heal the body. I did this late last year when I was severely dehydrated. Growing up, I was always told not to drink distilled water. It was considered a bad thing to do. I’ve come to the conclusion that this is due to lack of knowledge when it comes to drinking water. This fear of distilled water is simply due to its dehydrating affect if used improperly. However, if this water is combined with the proper hydrating waters it can have a positive impact on someone’s health.

Alkaline Water

Alkaline water is high in pH and has the affect to take the body out of an acidic state if used properly. Water alone can’t do this, but with a proper diet and exercise, Alkaline water can work wonders for the body. Alkaline water is usually on a pH level of 8 to10 with most waters. The pH can be higher depending on the brand and how it was processed. It is great at hydration and can give the body a boost on the pH scale. I began drinking alkaline water back in 2016 when I started my new lifestyle journey. The first time I drank this water, I will never forget how it made me feel. Literally, I was hydrated instantly, and I never looked at water the same way again. Before this experience, I was drinking purified water and anything that advertised itself as drinking water. I’ve learned that trusting companies and what they tell you means absolutely nothing without facts to prove it. No one tells you waters advertised as “drinking or purified water” is bad for you. I used to wonder why I would drink so much water and still be thirsty. It was because I was drinking the wrong water. Many people are drinking the wrong water and don’t even know it.

Natural Spring Water

Natural Spring Water comes directly from the springs here in our country. Locations with natural springs are treated with care. Locals in these areas actually visit these spring to get fresh spring water. There are several locations around our country where natural springs are available. Unfortunately, many of us don’t have access to source our own drinking water. So it is important to shop for 100% Natural spring water with the site location if possible. Fiji and Evian are great companies who tell you where their water comes from. There are other brands who share this information on their containers. Read these containers to know where your water comes from. Natural Spring Water is great water that has a neutral pH ranging from 7 to 7.9 depending on where it is sourced. This water is for hydration. If you’re not drinking natural spring water for hydration, now it the time to start. Plus this is a fantastic water for cooking. Some people aren’t using their taps in the kitchen anymore. When you think about it, when is the last time your water source been checked? I mean the actual water in your home that comes from the faucet? If you’re attentive to the water that comes out of the taps at your home, you might notice water is different. I remember seeing debris in my kitchen sink water when filling up a pot. I would think it was a half cleaned dish from the kids so I’ll clean it again. The same debris. Then I’ll clean it like 3 times just to realize it was the water coming out of the faucet and not the actual pot I was filling up with water. So I stopped using the faucet water and bought natural spring water. This water will keep you well hydrated naturally. If you enjoy cooking, it will add freshness to your food. It is the water children should be drinking to help them stay healthy.

Bonus: Coconut Water

I personally love coconut water. I love it with the pulp and without any extras added to it. My favorite coconut water is fresh out of the young coconut itself. There are so many benefits from using coconuts in everyday life. Some use it as a healthy fat when cooking (just don’t heat it over 250 degrees). Others use the benefits for beauty purposes. When I made body butters years ago, I used to add unrefined organic coconut oil to my mixtures. Plus its light enough to hydrate facial skin without clogging the pores. Coconut water is very hydrating and may help prevent illness in the body. Check out this Healthline post that discusses 8 science-based health benefits of coconut water.

Remember, the body can not live in an acidic state. It is so important to take water seriously. I want to hear your thoughts or answer any questions you may have. Start a conversation in the comments.
